PAC MAN Lite from Namco as ipod touch game

Written by Patrick Carlow on October 26th, 2008

PAC-MAN Lite ipod touch gamesPAC MAN is back. If you are old enough to remember and had one of the first video game machines, you just know how classic and great this game is. It is addictive and can rob you of several hours, while engaging in a never ending race in eating one dot after the other.

For the rest of us, it is a game we grew up with or our older brother had and we played with it, while he was in school. he he…

Now it is Pac Man fever for all ipod touch game lovers. Namco ported Pac Man. I tested the lite version, PAC-MAN Lite from the app store. It is a free version, but there are several paid versions as well.

The first impression is so 80’s and like the classic one. the Loading bar, followed by “Presented by Namco” and a welcome screen. There are several options on the main menu and they are all self explained. There is a choice between “Easy”, “Normal” and “Original” as playing mode. Choose what you like. More important is the right choice to navigate Pac Man around in the maze. I use “Swipe Mode”, where you move your finger

across the screen to move PAC-MAN in the direction you want. An other one might be “Accelerometer Mode” where pac man travels in the direction the the ipod touch or iphone is leaning or rotating to

. Haven’t given it a try yet, but sounds interesting.

The feel is like the original and the music adds to that feel, good old PAC Man music. PAC-MAN Lite has only one stage, does connect to the app store rather fast at the end (the app is asking or warning it will use the 3G or Wifi connection before) and is showing the selection of paid pac man games in the itunes app store.

All over it is a nice free app. Gives nostalgic feel and possible make you want more.
