The iphone 3G is coming to Japan. Finally! 

I can not wait. Softbank will be the one who will bring the iphone 3g on the Japanese market. This is a surprise for me, since I was expecting to see docomo to do so. Several reason spoke for NTT docomo, first it is the biggest mobile phone company and Apple loves to take the biggest company. Second it was expected that NTT docomo would be willing to grand most requests from Apple, since they are in need for something different and hype to strengthen there position in the market.

It was known that Softbank is also in the talks and some things spoke for them. They had already worked once with Apple together. Softbank offered the Apple ipod in a packet with there phones. From that respect the two companies know each other. But Softbank is the smallest mobile phone carrier.

Why Softbank? My guess is that Softbank made the best offer in terms for Apple. It is unclear if they will be the only once to offer the iphone 3G, docomo has said it is still in talks with Apple. But it looks like that Softbank will be the launch partner for Apple. Now it is to hope that Softbank will make the iphone not to expensive.
