How Do I Connect My Iphone 3g To A 3g Network?

When I’m at home, my iPhone 3G automatically connects to my wifi network, but when I’m out and there isn’t a wifi connection nearby, it doesn’t connect to a 3G network. How do I know where a 3G network is, and how do I get my iPhone to connect to a 3G network? I live in Houston, TX, so I’m sure I live in an area with 3G.

    go to settings > general > network > enable 3G
    if it still doesn’t work, you arent in an area with 3G.
