How Do I Create My Own Text Message Sounds On My Iphone 3g?

I have a few seconds long mp3 clip that I’d like to use for my notification tone when I get a text message on my new iPhone 3g. Can someone give me a step by step procedure on doing this?

    There isn’t an easy way to do it unfortunately. It would involve jailbreaking your iPhone.
