I was planning on getting the new iPhone 3G S next week, but after reading the fine print on Apple’s website, it said that people who bought the iPhone 3G last year have to pay $500-$700 for the iPhone 3G S this year instead of the $199-$299 for the regular price. Is anyone else pretty mad about this?

No. All carriers only allow upgrades when you’re close to the end of your contract. There’s no reason, the iPhone should be different. Also, realize that there’s going to be a new iPhone EVERY YEAR. People have to get rid of this need to have everything new all the time.
No, not really.
You can sell off your 3G iPhone on ebay for at least $400… more if its a 16gb. That should cover the difference.
