I just bought the iPhone 3G with its data plan. I will give this cel to my brother as a gift. He have an account and can add the data plan to the phone.
Can I do that? Cancel the data plan and not use the iPhone in my existing account?? I already have a phone to replace that.

you can cancel the data plan but im pretty sure you cant transfer the names. check with att
I believe that you can cancel the plan, give your brother the phone, and then he can activate it through AT&T by signing up for the contract and the plans. But to cancel the plan you might have to pay an early termination fee. I’m not sure if you’d pay the full fee if you just plan to cancel the data plan for iPhone but still have an AT&T plan.
Your best bet is probably to go to AT&T and ask someone there.
