Question About Iphone 3g S And 3g With Os 3 Update?

I’m planning to buy my first ever iPhone this week maybe. My friend who is currently in the States will buy one for me. I’m living in the Philippines. I’m thinking of just buying the 8gb iPhone 3G (with the OS update) that only costs $99.
What would I be missing if i just get the 8gb with the update?
Will I be able to use it in the Philippines?
Is it better if I just get the 3G S?

    If you like using the camera on you’re phone and taking video then i would personally say that is the only thing you will miss on the normal 3g over the 3gs especially seen as the 3.0 OS is going to be giving you much of the 3gs options such as mms. If you are one of them ppl that are really bothered about speed and need the very fastest even if it means paying loads more just for a bit faster then 3gs maybe for you.

    If you grab a iPhone 3G you will lose the ability of the digital compass, voice command and video recording, past that, the same.

    Only if its unlocked you can use it in the Philippines with another sim card from a wireless carrier there.
    The 3Gs has a 3.2 megapixel camera and video recording.
