Am I Eligible For The Subsidized Pricing For The Iphone 3g S?
{ Posted on Nov 21 2009 by Richard }
I got a 1st gen iphone last year as a hand-me-down. I need to get current on this month’s and last month’s bill, and I will be current by the time the newer phone is released, but will I be eligible for for the subsidized pricing of the 3G S? I checked online and it said no, but I asked a customer service rep and they said maybe once I get my bill current. I don’t know which one to believe.

Welcome to iPhone App Reviews
You have to be 18 months into your current contract to get the $199/$299 price. It’s $200 more if you’re at least a year into your contract and $400 more for less than a year.
If you’re not 18 months in, it’s cheaper to terminate your contract, pay the ETF and start over with a new phone and new contract.
Go to you account page on att.com
Select your phone tab (if on family/shared plan)
Click upgrade options.
Click upgrade today on your phone.
Select any phone option (like smartphone or whatever)
It will show you a blue box stating whether or not you are eligible for an upgrade or not, and when you will be.
If you are not but still want the new iPhone, the cheapest way to go would be to cancel you contract which cost $175 and then sign up again and get the iPhone for $199. It will cost you $374 instead of $599 to get the iPhone without an upgrade.
