Pretty explanatory really, I’ve just bought an Iphone 3g and I am going to unlock it to work with my orange contract sim. I was just wondering whether the 3g will still work etc (I have 3g allowance on my orange sim) Thanks in advance!

  1. You will probably be able to get the internet to work but I seriously doubt that you will get the benefit of the 3G speed. Not all 3G networks are the same. In the US, the people that unlock the AT&T 3G iPhone actually have to disable the 3G to get the internet to work on T-mobiles network

  2. It should be fine actually if you unlock it. Experts say that by unlocking it you will actually be the beneficiary of more features such as tethering ( connect laptop to iphone and be able to use 3G on laptop)
The thing is 3G is just an antenna that connects to the network, its not like if you unlock it, it will just magically shut down. I see plenty of Verizon and t-mobile folks in the US unlock there 3G iPhones, so you should be fun, just make sure you jailbreak it correctly.
Worse come to worse you can wipe your iPhone and sell it on eBay for probably what you bought it for.

  3. It sure will. I would recommend unlocking before you put any apps onto the actual phone.

  4. no, it won’t work as well. You won’t recieve software updates, and many apple apps will not be working.
you should’ve thought of this before you bought the phone.

  5. its ok to unlock your iphone

  6. should do…

  7. no loads of ur settings will chance internet and all will stop
