Will A Used Iphone 3g Need To Be Reactivate With New Sim Card?

If you purchased an iphone 3g that had no contract (but had been previously used for a few days), will you need to reactivate it once you put in a different AT&T SIM card?
If so…. how would you go about “activating” with the new SIM?
