I want to buy and iPhone 3G. I currently have an AT&T Family Plan account. Can I get the iPhone 3G for an existing plan without having it be and upgrade or pay more than they charge?

  1. no, iphone sale & activation is dependent on a new 2 year contract with iphone voice & data plan combined. but according to the website you may be eligible for early upgrade, thats according to at&t’s website.

  2. You can put the iPhone on any AT&T account. Individual or family. If the line you want to put it on is not eligible for an upgrade, you will have to pay $399 for the 8GB version and $499 for the 16. The $199/$299 price is only for new customers and customers who are eligible for an upgrade, so AT&T decided to offer an “Early Upgrade” price for those of us whose contracts are not up yet.

  3. Yes, you can use the phone on an existing line/account…the price you pay for the phone will depend on your contract/upgrade eligibility status.
