Should I Buy An Iphone 3g Now, Or Is A New Model Going To Be Released Soon?
{ Posted on Dec 23 2009 by Richard }
My phone contracts run out, and I really want an iPhone 3G. But I’ve heard rumours that a new model will be out by Christmas. Is this true?

Welcome to iPhone App Reviews
Well, it’s true that phones are usually cheaper around Christmas time, but Apple is different. They don’t give ‘deals’ around holidays. Apple will never lower their prices for a phone. When the new one comes out next year, it may be cheaper than the 3G, but they won’t lower the price of the 3G.
Now, my dad is a telecommunications engineer. Meaning he works with cell phones, computers, etc all the time. One of his really good friends is the President of AT&T (Kent Mathy).
Apple is spending more time on the iPhone software than the actual iPhone. They won’t be releasing a new iPhone until mid-2010. Apple is releasing a new update for the iPhone in June, so if you want an iPhone you should get it in June so there won’t be any need to pay the extra fee to get the update.
The new software is supposed to do a lot of new things, but the main thing is, it’s going to let you turn the iPhone to the side so you can have a larger keyboard to text and also, they’ll be releasing a new version of iTunes that’ll let you watch Blu-Rays on your iPhone.
Well, actually a new one is coming out. Maybe two as soon as THIS summer. In other words in about two months or maybe even less the next iPhones will be out. If you wait, the iPhone 3G prices will drop when the newer models come out. And as soon as the newer ones come out, they will have more bugs then the 3G for at least the first few weeks or months. Then Apple will drop the prices on those after a little while, making the guys who had to get it on the first day feel like they got ripped. I’d get a 3G because it is cheaper, it can be jailbroken ( who knows how hard the new iphones will be to jailbreak, Apple makes it harder with every new phone). And it will be more reliable, at least in the beginning.
I’d rather have a slightly older model which works well rather then a new one which gives me problems and costs more on top of that.
Hope that helped.
I would weight for the new one. Or buy the old one around Christmas it will be cheaper. You can stay with the current phone even though your contract has ended it just means that you are out of contract but pay the same rate. That’s what I am doing right now. I have not had a contract for over a year now.
