Does The Iphone 3g Use The Same Cell Towers As A Regular At&tphone?

I have a AT&T PDA that my company gave me. The cell phone reception on it is perfect from my house. I’m interested in purchasing an iPhone for my personal cell phone, and wanted to know if the iPhone uses the same cell tower as my other AT&T phone (want to make sure the reception is good). I’m not really sure what “3G” means, and thought it might use a different tower.

  1. Yes, they use the same towers. But know that reception is dependant more upon the phone than the tower used.
Also, 3G is just the type of data network they use (meaning, the network it transfers data on), the older (slower) type was called the EDGE network.

  2. it should…i dont know why it wouldnt…i really dont think a phone service would make a special tower for different phones

  3. No.
