The iPhone has lots of features, one of them is WiFi. As you know it is possible to connect your iPhone 3G and the iPod touch or the first iPhone generation wireless with any network. It’s so much fun having a coffee at Starbucks or breakfast at McDonnald and surf the internet.
The iPhone 3G can connect to your computer using Bluetooth, USB and WiFi. Did you ever thought using your iPhone 3G to link your PC or Mac to the internet? At home you might not need it or when there is a public WiFi spot, but besides these locations are there any other options. The iPhone 3G has a build in high speed connection and its used all the time when streaming music, watching YouTube, reading mail and tracking using Google maps.
In theory it should be possible to use the build in connection to link a laptop and surf online. By default Apple does not officially equip the iPhone 3G and the first generation iPhone with such capability. However, there is a way to add this useful function according to one web site and turn the iPhone into a modem or internet gateway for the notebook or laptop. Unfortunately it does require to jailbreak the iPhone 3G.
Jailbreak the iPhone 3G might violate the terms of service from the mobile phone carrier.
Having said that, please make sure you understand what risks you take before making any jailbreak attempts. If you feel unsure about it, don’t do it. Search for other ways or wait until other solutions are available.
