I just connected my iPhone to my PC and I was told there is the new a new Apple iPhone 3G firmware available and what shall I say. After reading what is all new in version 2.2 I had to update.

As I write this post to iTunes is downloading the new iPhone 2.2 firmware. Since my computer is not the news one it will take a while but you can expect to have the download done in 5 minutes or less if you got an intel duo 2.x computer.

It is keep on coming better and better. Within weeks Softbank announce yet an other price cut in its monthly minimum fee making the iPhone 3G cheeper. As we reported in our post New Softbank Prices for iPhone 3G Japan Softbank lowered the monthly fee from 8,240 Yen to 3,950 Yen on 11 August. Countdown running - one more week and I will bring my iPhone 3G home. Mixed feeling so. Read a lot online and found lots of negative comments and posts. Most complain about the 3G signal. I read today an other post on gizmodo. We all (should) know that there is no perfect not even for Apple. What Apple does and is good in, to bring lots of ideas together in one product and make it a big special. Others could do the same, but they don’t. It’s not that Apple is inventing everything new, but it does put the pieces together to get a nice form and interesting functions. 

If the iPhone is so bad as some claim, why others bother or worry. For Apple it would be an other Newton at best. My guess is only others will go after Apple in design and function. See the iMac was not perfect at the beginning but it developed on and others came up with similar concepts.
