Curved Line Through Apple On Iphone 3g S Start-up Screen?

I recently recieved the Iphone 3G S as a contract upgrade. When I turn the phone on, a curved line is shown through part of the apple on the start-up screen. Has anybody experienced this? Is it supposed to happen?
